Community Garden Journal: Week 7, 2015 - 'First Fruits'

G'day everyone,

This months edition of the Asia-Pacific Perspective with James Corbett is now posted and can be viewed by clicking HERE. In the last segment of the episode James and I had a great discussion about my experiences at the Cotton Tree community garden. We also went over the easy, simple and positive steps that all of us can take to start growing our own produce and connecting with other in our communities.

In what is a big deal for me, the first tomato seedling that I planted over a month ago now, has started to grow it's very first fruit (pictured above)! It's a very satisfying little reward to see this happen after the all the work, care and attention I've been putting into the plot over the last 7 weeks. Maybe I can do this after all?

The basil and tomato cuttings that I planted in the previous journal entry have taken well to their new home with new leaves and branches quickly springing into life. My half dozen of snow-pea seedlings are also doing well, with a few of them quickly taking hold of the trellis' that I put in last week. I'm really keen to see to how they go and how many pea-pods they end up producing.

OK, that's going to do it for this weeks entry but bonce again please check out the aforementioned episode of the Asia-Pacific Perspective.

Thanks again for checking out the journal and of course for all of your words of encouragement. and advice. Until next time, happy gardening!

Broc West
